Apply here to become a participating artist in the 2024 Southport Concert Series
The City of Southport, in collaboration with Up Your Arts and Downtown Southport, Inc., is excited to announce the return of the Southport Concert Series for the upcoming season. This year's series promises an outstanding lineup of musical performances, bringing the community together on the Garrison Lawn at Fort Johnston.
To encourage greater participation, the Southport Concert Series has shifted from Thursdays to Sundays this year. This change is designed to accommodate a broader audience and provide more opportunities for both performers and attendees to engage in the vibrant music scene Southport has to offer.
The 2024 series runs Sunday afternoons this spring and fall from 2pm to 4pm, provided the weather is good. The concerts will be open to the public, welcoming attendees of all ages. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, chairs, and dancing shoes.
While the lineup of performers is yet to be announced, interested artists are urged to sign up promptly to secure their spot on the stage.
Who is eligible?
All bands who perform in Brunswick County are eligible to apply for one of these nights.
Is this a paid gig?
Participating musicians are paid $575 per night, BYOE (bring your own equipment). The City of Southport will provide stage lighting.
Can we put up our signs and a tip jar?
Signs and banners are permitted; but, since the musicians are contracted and paid for their performances, tip jars will not be allowed to be placed on the stage or distributed in the audience.
Can we advertise the event?
Please do! Up Your Arts and the City of Southport will also be promoting the event. Please note, park regulations require the series team to note on all its event advertising that alcohol is not permitted on City of Southport property.
How about loading and unloading?
Vehicles must be parked on side streets, not on the grass near the stage. Musicians are allowed to drive close to the stage for loading and unloading only; their vehicles must then be moved out of the park.
What happens if there is bad weather?
Every effort will be made to reschedule any bad weather cancellations to the designated spring and fall rain dates.
